“My body deals with a lot of aches and pains over the course of a 162 game season. Using the DMS Stimulator on a regular basis speeds up my recovery time and helps with the flexibility and mobility I need to perform at the highest level. DMS gives me the comfort of knowing that my body will feel refreshed even after a long day at the ballpark or a tough workout in the gym. DMS is quick and easy to use and I would recommend it to any athlete looking to perform at their best.”

Reducing Muscle Hypertonicity With the Deep Muscle Stimulator

The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) has popularized our awareness of checking for asymmetries in the body during movement. Muscle strains and joint dysfunctions caused by asymmetrical movements over time can generally be reduced by treatment using the Deep Muscle Stimulator (DMS).

The DMS is a hand held device that delivers strong vibration, oscillation, and percussion. Use of the DMS appears to reduce stiffness by signaling inhibition of the sympathetic nervous system. Palpate tight or stiff fascial tissue or a taut and tender muscle fiber, and then apply the Deep Muscle Stimulator (DMS) device for approximately two to three minutes, the post treatment/application will leave the skin red, warm and it will palpate as ‘softer’. This probably has to do with local changes in the arterioles and capilliaries, and the mixing up of tissue viscosity.

Fascial therapy has become a very popular technique over the past several years. Fascia is the term applied to all of the connective tissues fibers and glue of the human body. Many tools to perform fascial therapy have gained popularity amongst Chiropractors, physiotherapists, personal trainers, and massage therapists. In addition to our hands…

The best soft tissue therapy available

Posted By: Ryan Carsten  /  Category: Chiropractic, Uncategorized

If you are committed to giving your patients the most excellent soft tissue therapy available then you will want to apply the Deep Muscle Stimulator (D-M-S) to your patients.

“The Deep Muscle Stimulator can be a stand alone therapy or used in conjunction with any other technique used in your office. My patients look forward to the feeling that comes with the pain relief and relaxation provided by DMS. I get consistent fast results using the DMS.” Dr. Jeffrey Tucker, Instructor for the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).

Dr. Jake Pivaroff is the inventor of the D-M-S and he is committed to excellence and provides a product with the best built material. Patients like the look, and you can feel the quality of production that each unit is made of.

“The D-M-S device is especially useful for covering the entire surface of the back and legs. The brisk vibration and percussion delivered by the device provides pressure and force to overcome the density of the erector muscles, spinous ligaments and thoracolumbar fascia. I can cover more surface area using the DMS, be more thorough and faster, than using hands alone. Although the patient usually reports feeling relaxed, the device has a stimulating effect upon the nerve receptors. A vibratory sensation is conveyed from the site of application on the body that travels outward for 2-4 inches or further, depending on the patients’ density. Latent trigger points, taut bands and/or tender spots that were not felt by the patient will often be revealed with a sensation when stimulated by the DMS, thus allowing these spots to be worked out”. Dr. Jeffrey Tucker

The body tissues directly influenced by D-M-S deep vibration/percussion are the skin, the fascia, the muscular system, lymphatic system, and the nervous system. The glandular, digestive, and bony systems are indirectly influenced. In cases of numbness or tingling, this vibration will have a benumbing effect which will react in a sedative manner. Like ischemic compression techniques using your hands, elbows, or T-bars, the D-M-S vibration/percussion device will reduce trigger point sensitivity found in muscle, tendon, periosteum, ligament and skin. By reflex action through the sensory nerves in the skin a sedative effect is produced by vibration/percussion.

Metabolites and toxins can become stored in the connective tissues and the use of vibration/percussion will increase vasodilation, allowing tissues to receive adequate fresh amounts of oxygen and nutrients. This process will remove waste byproducts to facilitate tissue recovery and repair. Vibration/percussion can be lightly used over swollen joints in order to send on through the blood stream the broken down products of inflammation.

D-M-S will exceed your expectations and patients will not have that anti-climatic feeling that they often have with other modalities.

Progressive Scoliosis Case

Posted By: Ryan Carsten  /  Category: Physical therapy, Uncategorized

Have you been confronted with a progressive scoliosis case?

Faced with that stubborn curve that will not move… well I’m giving you one of my most valued scoliosis secretes in changing the curve dynamics.   Yes the…  DMS…  this instrument can and will give you the added edge in change the A/B fibers structure of the scoliotic curve mechanics.  This instrument can precisely maneuver into the rotated muscle/ligament tissue of the convex side contracted scoliosis curve. In days, the range of motion of the contracted side is seen, and can be measured.  The secret is in the percussions head and the hertz of the instrument. The…DMS … instrument dramatically reduces the soft tissue contracture of the scoliosis short leg side; patient will experience new ROM and pain reduction within 2 offices visits.  To increase patient compliance through curve correction the …DMS… instrument will give you that added edge of success.  I have used the… DMS … for over 8 years and strongly recommend in the treatment of Idiopathic Scoliosis. If you have any question regarding the… DMS… usage in scoliosis curve treatment please contacts me at Scoliosis. Com.

I can’t live without my DMS

I want to let you know about a fantastic piece of equipment I’m using to help accelerate my rehab, Dr. Jake’s Deep Muscle Stimulator (DMS). Dr. Jake and I go way back on the Perform Better (PB) tour. With the DMS, Dr. Jake has treated all of the PB presenters (as well as many attendees) and kept us all in one piece during our long seminar days.

If it would not have been for Dr. Jake and the DMS I don’t know if I could have gotten through some of the long workshops on the 2008 PB tour. My hip needed to be resurfaced but I needed to finish the 2008 season with PB. I could barely tie my right shoe and was noticeably limping the entire day. I distinctly remember limping to Dr. Jake and running back to my station after a 5-minute DMS treatment. SO – to say that I have experienced and believe in the magic of the Dr. Jake’s DMS is the understatement of the year.

The DMS unit is a hand-held percussive massagers that provides a host of benefits, including:

  • Increased circulation
  • Reduced pain
  • Faster rehabilitation from injury
  • Increased lymphatic flow
  • Break up of muscular scar tissue
  • Tissue Regeneration
  • Soft & Active tissue release

Since I had already experienced the DMS, I knew it would become an integral part of my Hip Resurfacing rehab. I bought the DMS before surgery and knew it would be my companion for a lifetime. The first week I started using it away from the surgical area. I used it on my back, opposite leg and calves.Into the second week, I started getting closer to the scar and by the third week I was using it on all of my affected muscles and to break up scar tissue. I’m very careful to stay away from the actual hip and the bones associated with the joint, as the percussive stimulus can destroy connecting metal parts and loosen any pins or screws one may have as a result of an orthopedic procedure.

Now I carry the DMS from home to work.Several times I have forgotten to bring it home with me and I will go back to work and get it. Now -everyone at work comes into my office for the “jackhammer,” as it is affectionately called at IHP. MY trainers use it before and after their workouts and now they are starting to use it on their clients. Our clients are starting to wonder where they can get one.

I recommend everyone check this machine out and congratulate Dr. Jake on a GREAT contribution to the health care and fitness industry.
